Referring to Argentina captain Lionel Messi, the Chief Minister wrote that fans have witnessed the football legend create history, adding that another historic chapter is about to unfold.
She said the extended operating hours are possible because of Delhi’s 24×7 business-friendly operating framework, introduced as part of the government’s Ease of Doing Business reforms.
Under the temporary relaxation, eligible restaurants, cafés, and food establishments can continue serving customers until 4 AM, allowing supporters to watch the late-night final together.

Delhi is not the only state extending support for football fans.
Bengaluru Extends Food Service Hours
The Bengaluru Police has also permitted hotels and restaurants to operate with extended food service timings during the FIFA World Cup weekend.
According to the order issued by Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, restaurants within the Bengaluru City Police Commissionerate limits can serve food:
- Till 5:00 AM on July 19 for the third-place playoff.
- Till 3:30 AM on July 20 for the FIFA World Cup final.
The extension was granted following a representation from the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) under provisions of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963.
Normally, food service in the city ends at 1:00 AM.
West Bengal Plans Public Screenings
The West Bengal government has also announced large-scale public screenings of the FIFA World Cup final.
According to an official notification, giant LED screens will be installed not only in Kolkata but also across districts throughout the state.
The government has allocated ₹1 lakh to each district for organizing the screenings.
Kolkata’s primary viewing venue will be the Nandan–Rabindra Sadan–Academy complex, where authorities plan to create a stadium-like atmosphere for football supporters.
