AI Startup Hits $1.5 Billion Valuation as Creaegis Leads Funding Round
AI software creation platform Emergent has entered India’s unicorn club after raising $130 million in a Series C funding round led by Creaegis, valuing the startup at $1.5 billion. The latest investment marks a fivefold jump in the company’s valuation within just four months and makes Emergent one of the fastest startups to achieve unicorn status since its public launch.
The funding round also witnessed participation from Claypond, Sentinel Global, Khosla Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator, reflecting strong investor confidence in the growing market for AI-powered software development.
With this milestone, Emergent becomes the third AI unicorn and the seventh startup overall to join India’s unicorn club in 2026, underscoring the rapid growth of the country’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.
How Will Emergent Use the Fresh Capital?
According to the company, the newly raised capital will be used to accelerate the development of its AI software creation platform, enhance its autonomous AI capabilities, and support its rapidly expanding global user base.
The startup plans to invest in product innovation, infrastructure, research, and international expansion as demand for AI-powered software development tools continues to rise worldwide.
The fresh funding also positions Emergent to strengthen its leadership in the fast-growing no-code and AI-assisted application development market.
What Does Emergent Do?
Founded in 2025 by Mukund Jha and Madhav Jha, Emergent enables entrepreneurs, startups, founders, and small businesses to build production ready web and mobile applications using autonomous AI agents without requiring any coding knowledge.
The platform automates much of the software development process, allowing users to create applications simply by describing what they want to build.
According to the company, more than 12 million applications have already been created using Emergent’s platform. Notably, nearly 70% of its users have no prior coding experience, highlighting the growing demand for AI-powered software creation tools that lower technical barriers.
Users can develop a wide range of business applications, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, marketplaces, mobile applications, internal business tools, and customer-facing digital products.
What Did the Founders Say?
Commenting on the funding, Mukund Jha, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Emergent, said artificial intelligence has the potential to fundamentally change who can build software.
According to him, the company’s vision is to democratize software development by enabling entrepreneurs and business owners to create and operate digital products without relying on traditional engineering teams.
He added that Emergent aims to significantly reduce both the cost and complexity of software development by allowing autonomous AI agents to handle much of the technical work.
One of India’s Fastest Unicorn Journeys
Emergent’s rise has been remarkably rapid.
The company has now raised $230 million across three funding rounds within just one year.
Its funding journey began with a $23 million Series A round in September 2025, followed by a $70 million Series B round in January 2026.
The latest $130 million Series C has increased the company’s valuation to $1.5 billion, representing a fivefold increase in just four months.
This rapid valuation growth reflects increasing investor optimism around generative AI, autonomous software development, and AI-native enterprise platforms.
What Does This Mean for India’s AI Ecosystem?
Emergent’s unicorn milestone highlights the growing global interest in India’s artificial intelligence startup ecosystem.
The company becomes the third AI startup to achieve unicorn status in 2026, following the rapid rise of AI-focused companies building foundational models, enterprise AI infrastructure, and automation platforms.
Overall, Emergent is the seventh Indian startup to enter the unicorn club this year, joining companies including KreditBee, Neysa, Juspay, Skyroot Aerospace, Sarvam AI, and Square Yards.
The announcement comes shortly after Sarvam AI raised $234 million in the first close of its $300 million Series B round, also at a $1.5 billion valuation, demonstrating sustained investor confidence in India’s AI innovation landscape.
As businesses increasingly adopt artificial intelligence to automate operations and accelerate digital transformation, platforms like Emergent are positioning themselves at the forefront of the next wave of software development.
With a growing global customer base, strong investor backing, and rapid product adoption, Emergent is well placed to play a significant role in shaping the future of AI-powered software creation.
