E-commerce Marketplace Reports Strong Growth as Quarterly Loss Falls to ₹133 Crore
Meesho, one of India’s leading e-commerce marketplaces, reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of FY27, with revenue from operations rising 48% year-on-year to ₹3,713 crore, while its net loss narrowed by 54% to ₹133 crore.
According to the company’s financial statements filed with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Meesho continued its path toward profitability, supported by steady revenue growth and improved operational efficiency.
The results highlight the company’s continued momentum in India’s fast-growing e-commerce market, where it has been expanding its seller ecosystem and strengthening its value-commerce platform.
Revenue Crosses ₹3,700 Crore
For the quarter ended June 2026, Meesho’s revenue from operations increased to ₹3,713 crore, compared with ₹2,504 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
On a sequential basis, revenue also grew 5%, up from ₹3,531 crore in Q4 FY26.
The company did not disclose a detailed revenue breakdown across its business segments in the quarterly filing.
In addition to operating revenue, Meesho earned ₹114 crore in non-operating income, taking its total income for the quarter to ₹3,826 crore.
The consistent revenue growth reflects sustained demand on the platform and continued expansion of its marketplace business.
Expenses Rise as Business Scales
As Meesho expanded its operations, overall expenses also increased during the quarter.
Total expenses rose 43% year-on-year to ₹3,959 crore, compared with ₹2,778 crore in Q1 FY26.
Among the disclosed expenses:
- Employee benefit expenses increased 17% to ₹243 crore, up from ₹207 crore a year earlier.
- Depreciation expenses stood at ₹20 crore during the quarter.
While the company did not disclose the complete expense breakup, the increase reflects continued investments in talent, technology, and business expansion.
Losses Narrow by More Than Half
Despite higher operating expenses, Meesho significantly improved its bottom line.
The company reported a net loss of ₹133 crore, a 54% reduction from the ₹289 crore loss recorded in the corresponding quarter of FY26.
The sharp improvement demonstrates the company’s continued progress toward achieving sustainable profitability while maintaining strong growth.
Reducing losses while expanding revenue has remained a key focus area for Indian e-commerce companies amid increasing emphasis on operational efficiency and disciplined capital allocation.
Segment Performance
Meesho’s financial statements also provided insight into the performance of its operating segments.
The company’s marketplace business recorded an EBITDA loss of ₹139 crore, reflecting continued investments in scaling its core e-commerce platform.
Meanwhile, its new initiatives segment generated revenue of ₹6 crore while posting an EBITDA loss of ₹39 crore.
These new businesses remain at an early stage and continue to require investment as the company expands beyond its core marketplace operations.
Kirana Club Acquisition Strengthens Ecosystem
Last month, Meesho approved the acquisition of a 100% stake in Singapore-based Kirana Club, along with an additional 0.41% stake in its Indian subsidiary, Retail Pulse Labs Private Limited (RPLPL).
The total transaction value is ₹202.08 crore.
Upon completion, Kirana Club will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Meesho, strengthening the company’s presence in India’s neighbourhood retail ecosystem.
The acquisition aligns with Meesho’s broader strategy of enhancing services for small retailers and expanding its technology-driven commerce platform.
Market Position
At the close of Thursday’s trading session, Meesho’s share price stood at ₹188.95, giving the company a market capitalisation of approximately ₹87,057 crore (around $9.16 billion).
The strong valuation reflects investor confidence in the company’s long-term growth prospects as India’s e-commerce market continues to expand rapidly.
Outlook
Meesho’s Q1 FY27 performance demonstrates the company’s ability to balance rapid revenue growth with improving financial discipline.
With revenue approaching ₹4,000 crore per quarter, losses reducing substantially, and strategic acquisitions strengthening its ecosystem, Meesho appears well-positioned to deepen its presence in India’s value-commerce segment.
Going forward, investors will closely watch the company’s progress toward profitability, the integration of Kirana Club, and its ability to sustain revenue growth while maintaining cost efficiency in an increasingly competitive e-commerce landscape.
