Why Has Security Been Tightened Across Delhi?
Delhi Police and paramilitary forces were deployed across key locations in the national capital on Saturday as members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) gathered at Jantar Mantar for a protest that prompted extensive security arrangements.
The protest, led by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, comes after the organization announced that it had received permission to hold a demonstration at the designated protest site in central Delhi.
In response, authorities heightened security across sensitive areas, including central Delhi, Indira Gandhi International Airport, major railway stations, inter-state bus terminals, and border entry points connecting Delhi with neighboring states.
Officials said the deployment was aimed at ensuring law and order while allowing the protest to proceed peacefully.
What Security Measures Have Been Put In Place?
According to sources, around 40 companies of paramilitary personnel have been deployed to support the Delhi Police during the protest.
Senior officers, including Joint Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police, Additional DCPs, and Assistant Commissioners of Police from multiple districts, have been assigned field duties to oversee security arrangements.
Authorities have established multiple layers of barricading at sensitive locations and intensified vehicle checking drives on roads leading to Jantar Mantar and other strategic parts of the city.
Security has also been strengthened outside the residence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a precautionary measure.
Police sources said reserve forces have been kept on standby to respond quickly to any unforeseen situation.
How Are Authorities Monitoring The Protest?
The Delhi Police Special Branch is closely monitoring developments across districts to ensure public order is maintained throughout the protest.
Officials said social media activity linked to the gathering is also being tracked to identify any attempts to spread misinformation or disrupt law and order.
In an unusual step, police are reportedly coordinating with private cab aggregators to assess movement patterns and monitor any significant increase in bookings toward Jantar Mantar and nearby areas.
Senior officers have instructed field units to remain vigilant and maintain constant communication as the demonstration progresses.
Who Is Leading The Protest?
The protest is being spearheaded by Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party.
According to officials, Dipke traveled directly to Jantar Mantar after arriving in Delhi instead of first visiting the Parliament Street Police Station.
The organization had earlier appealed to supporters to assemble at the designated protest venue and participate in the demonstration.
Authorities stated that metro services and public transportation are continuing to operate normally and that adequate arrangements have been made to minimize disruption for commuters.
What Is The Cockroach Janta Party?
The Cockroach Janta Party initially emerged as a satirical response to remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing last month.
What began as an online satire campaign has since evolved into a larger digital movement that has attracted considerable attention on social media platforms.
The group’s growing online presence has helped it build a sizeable following, leading to the organization of public demonstrations such as the one taking place at Jantar Mantar.
Despite heightened security measures, police officials maintained that the situation remains under control and that sufficient arrangements have been made to ensure both public safety and peaceful conduct of the protest.
